Pnat is developing an advanced environmental monitoring system based on IoT sensors, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, with the goal of analyzing and enhancing the ecological benefits of trees.

The infrastructure collects real-time data, enabling the assessment of key parameters such as CO₂ sequestration, air quality, pollutant reduction, and tree health.

To ensure efficient data processing, an advanced model has been developed to analyze and visualize the information interactively through a digital platform, enhancing the understanding of the arboreal heritage.

The use of artificial intelligence and predictive models has made it possible to simulate tree dynamics, analyzing their response to environmental factors such as wind and seasonal changes. Machine learning models have been integrated to improve the prediction of tree health and stability.

The project included the design and optimization of the sensors, ensuring resistance to weather conditions and a non-invasive installation on the trees.

This project was made possible thanks to initial funding received in 2019 through the Brevetti+ grant by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development – Directorate General for the Protection of Industrial Property – Italian Patent and Trademark Office. Later, in 2023, it received additional support through the “Digital Enterprise” grant, promoted by the Tuscany Region and managed by Sviluppo Toscana S.p.A.
