Nature Based Solutions

Plants in urban environments play a primary role in the fight against climate change, producing tangible effects that improve the quality of the climate, air, and soil. The work of plants is silent and constant, and humans often do not perceive it. In fact, in urban areas, nature is often seen as an accessory element that requires costly care and maintenance, which burdens local governments.

The publications Nature Based Solutions and urban greenery in the city of Campi Bisenzio aims to reverse this perception of the role of plants in cities.

The approach offered by the three publications is focused on a systemic involvement of every part of the community. With the “Guidelines for Designing Nature-Based Solutions,” we wanted to create a tool for the community, professionals, and the administration, capable of guiding the city toward a true ecological transition.
