Talking God
“Talking God” is an art installation developed in two interconnected locations, offering a unique immersive experience for visitors. The first location is at the Rmuti Faculty of Fine Arts and Industrial Design, within the Rmuti University campus, while the second is located at Wat Payap, a Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. This installation was presented as part of the Korat Thailand Biennale, an event promoting contemporary art and the intersection of art and nature.
At the university, the installation creates an environment where visitors can engage in a truly unique sensory experience. Inside a glass pavilion, surrounded by lush vegetation, visitors feel at one with nature. The plants, which generate pure air, help create a high-quality, restorative environment. At the same time, visitors are connected to the Banyan Tree at the second site, located within the Wat Payap temple. Here, sensors attached to the sacred Banyan Tree detect electrical pulses, which are then sent to the pavilion, controlling the lights that turn on and off in response to these signals. In this way, the lights “give voice” to the Banyan Tree, establishing a dynamic link between the two sites.
"The groves were God's first temples."
William Cullen Bryant
poet
Through its innovative fusion of nature and technology, “Talking God” fosters a deep sense of interconnectedness and reflection. By transforming the sacred energy of the Banyan Tree into a dynamic interaction with the human-made environment, the installation invites visitors to contemplate the relationship between the natural world and modern technology. It challenges the boundaries between the physical and digital, the sacred and the artificial, offering a space where nature itself becomes part of the conversation—one that speaks to both the mind and the spirit.
