Farm Park
Farm Park is an innovative project related to greenery and food that will serve to activate new functions in the green area called Parco Prato. The lot contains young plantings and is surrounded by parking lots and a downgraded road. The idea is to initiate a regeneration process by using greenery in a unique and innovative way, aiming to redefine the relationship between residents and the park, which is currently underused.
The project consists of a high-performance urban greenhouse for the production of local, zero-kilometer vegetables, a refreshment area by reusing old industrial containers for serving locally produced food and beverages, an aromatic herb garden, and a space for children where play will be a way to engage with current environmental themes. All of this will be surrounded by a buffer zone of new trees aimed at reducing the visual and acoustic impact of the road and creating a comfortable space.
All elements will be strongly integrated with greenery. In the project, the concept of Urban Jungle finds a natural place due to the massive use of greenery, which will play a key role in creating shaded areas, environmental comfort, and visual and psychological well-being. Using trees, plants, and simple or reclaimed materials synergistically is key to transforming the area into an accessible and usable space for all the residents of Prato.
The intervention is an opportunity to bring residents closer to the themes of food education, sustainable agriculture, and ecology. The project will be implemented in two phases: in the first phase, the technological greenhouse and related services will be built; in the second phase, a recreational area for children will be introduced, along with food containers, playground spaces, aromatic gardens, and a belt of trees and shrubs.
